The World’s Economy vs. God’s Economy

These have been popping into my mind all week and I know the list could be a lot longer than this. This has been cathartic.

The world’s economy says “Love the “good”, the successful, the beautiful, the wealthy, the healthy, the famous, the Photo-shopped.”

God’s economy says “…The LORD does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart.” 1 Samuel 16:7 NLT

The world’s economy says “Fake it till you make it.”

God’s economy says “Come to me all you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest.” Matthew 11:28 NLT

The world’s economy says “Grow up!”

God’s economy says “Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.” Matthew 18:3 NIV

The world’s economy says “Get revenge!”

God’s economy says “Love your enemies, and bless those who curse you.” Matthew 5:44

The world’s economy says “Don’t cry!”

God’s economy says “Jesus wept.” John 11:35

The world’s economy says “Keep on keeping on.”

God’s economy says “Be still and know that I am God.” Psalm 46:10

The world’s economy says “Don’t give up!”

God’s economy says “You’re blessed when you’re at the end of your rope. With less of you there is more of God and His rule.” Matthew 5:3 MSG

The world’s economy says to the depressed and grieving “Get over it!” (and thousands of other things that hurt rather than help)

God’s economy says “Blessed are the poor in spirit for theirs is the Kingdom of God.” Matthew 5:3 NIV

The world’s economy says “God never gives you more than you can handle.”

God’s economy says “My GRACE is sufficient for you, for MY POWER is made perfect in WEAKNESS.” 2 Cor 12:9 NIV
